Don't Say These Things

I just came back from a two-day conference about the future of the robotics business. Interesting stuff, and I'm more optimistic than I've ever been that robots will grow beyond industrial applications on factory floors. But the conference also reminded me of how much I dislike listening to hype machines, whether backed by facts or not. Herewith:

Phrases You Are No Longer Permitted to Say Unless You Have Read the Book, Every Page:
1. Paradigm Shift
2. Disruptive Technology

Any other suggestions?

Improving the Silence

(Apologies in advance for another blog-entry-about-blogging.)

I've heard it attributed to Quaker meetings... "Speak only if you can improve the silence." That thought's been with me lately as I slow down my blogging; an every day schedule seemed too much, often posting for the sake of filling space. So I'll be posting less often, but that's why, as observant readers will have noticed, I've got an ATOM feed now.

The blogging world in general doesn't buy this meme, and that's okay. But I've got some other writing projects that I've made little progress on over the last year, and I believe blogging has taken some of the energy for writing.

I'll be around.
